Scott Township is a township in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 669 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 44.5 square miles (115.2 km²), of which, 43.7 square miles (113.3 km²) of it is land and 0.7 square miles (1.9 km²) of it (1.62%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 669 people, 261 households, and 192 families residing in the township. The population density was 15.3 people per square mile (5.9/km²). There were 492 housing units at an average density of 11.2/sq mi (4.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 98.95% White, 0.15% Native American, and 0.90% from two or more races.

There were 261 households out of which 26.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.0% were married couples living together, 6.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.4% were non-families. 21.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.04.

In the township the population was spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $29,632, and the median income for a family was $35,455. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $18,875 for females. The per capita income for the township was $14,793. About 11.0% of families and 13.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.3% of those under age 18 and 3.1% of those age 65 or over.
